Spring Bay Studio & Gallery

Sue-photoCLASSES are currently held at the Studio on Monday mornings, 9.30 to 1pm. All welcome.

The Gallery is open on Monday mornings, by appointment and during exhibitions.

Painter Sue Nettlefold established the Spring Bay Studio & Gallery in 2008, teaching structure in painting, drawing and printwork to local artists in the Triabunna/Orford area. The class has gone from strength to strength ever since, with some students coming from Hobart and surrounds to attend the class on a regular basis.

Sue has recently been recognised for her extensive contributions to the development of visual arts on the East Coast: awarded a Certificate of Excellence Award, presented as part of the Keep Australia Beautiful Awards (see below):

The Studio holds annual exhibitions locally, with students achieving prize-winning results in the Glamorgan Spring Bay Art prize in 2011 and 2013. Several members of the group have also received commissions for work.

The aim for the future is to obtain a dedicated and permanent space for the Studio to provide a working arena for the development of visual arts in the Spring Bay area.

The Studio has previously hosted a university-run workshop, which provided a launching place to University for many in the area. The first unit was held in 2013 and was highly successful. Many students who attended were inspired to actively pursue further arts education within the UTAS framework of programmes.
